The sun ain't gonna shine anymore...

Another miserable afternoon - there literally has not been a day in July yet where it hasn't rained. It's supposed to be summer for goodness sake. I know Scotland is notorious the world over for having bad weather but this is just ridiculous. The last thing I hear at night before falling asleep is the rain violently thrashing against my window and the first thing I hear in the morning is a slightly lighter pitter patter of the same bloody rain! It's like this all day long, it's so miserable that you can't tell what time of day it is by looking out the window (something you can normally do in sunny Scotland). It's the same dull grey sky all day long. Even a rainbow now and again would be nice, i'd be slightly more forgiving. I love a rainbow...but not as much as I love the sun!

Here comes the sun...
...there goes the sun!

It's a shame for kids, who are now at the beginning of their school holidays, who can't play outside or get the paddling pool out or have a picnic with their wee buddy's. That's the type of stuff I used to love doing when I was a nipper. I was never indoors I LOVED playing outside, even in the rain, but the sunny days were always the best. When I think back to the glory days of being a child outside playing with all the neighbourhood kids nearly all of my memories feature glorious sunshine. Even during winter when we were in the garden building a snowman there was still sunshine. We're right in the middle of festival season and Scotland's biggest music festival, T in the Park has just come to a very wet and muddy end. I also know of a few people who have either attended or had a wedding in July who have not been able to have any pictures taken outside because of the rain. It's ironic really, most people in the UK attempt to have a summer wedding (specifically July) because there is a better chance of having some sun. Not in 2012 it would seem. But hey, it's only the 9th day of the month. Let's hope things brighten up along the way - we really do deserve it!

Peace and Love
TT
